“It’s confirmed Daimon. The Starfleet vessel is heading here. We have also picked up a few other Starfleet vessels heading to other systems in the region.”

How they got here wasn’t the concern anymore. What they were going to do about it was paramount. In Poggs mind there were 2 real choices. Warn them off, and if they enter the system they use their ‘full consortium up their sleeves’, or make nice and see what they want. The contracts with the Formicans and the Dergans were ironclad and legally binding, so they were safe on that front. But a persistently Federation presence in the region could have pros and cons.

“How many ships do we have in the system?” He asked his assistant.

“All except for the 2 that are in the next system over prospecting sir.” When they had decided to settle in the system and turn their Marauder into the space station that now orbited Formica they had already begun producing large armed shuttles that they planned to use for prospecting and Dilithium mining and transport, 9 in all. Each was built around one of the main engine cells of their Marauder, and the components for small rugged warp cores for them were easily replicated and constructed for them.

They also sent word to their colleagues back on the edge of Romulan space to contract a large freighter to come and pick up the first consignment of dilithium. It had been 3.5 long years, but the first 2 mines on the ore-rich moon they had discovered were finally producing more than theirs and the Formicans’ domestic needs.

“Send orders to the 2 shuttles armed with the Breen Energy Dissipators prepare to launch. Send for Daimon Zirk, have him report here for orders.” Zirk was one of the 6 Daimons he had promoted when they had decided to settle here. 3 were responsible for relations with the Formicans and other 3 controlled trade with the Dergans. Zirk was the wisest and most cunning of the 6 and would likely replace Pogg if anything was to happen to him. To give everyone, aside from the 74 females and the 51 children, in their company a greater sense of purpose, he had named 6 Daimons, nearly 100 Sub-Daimons, and 270 of the other Ferengi males as Managers and Supervisors.

“Yes Daimon.” His assistant scurried out of the room.

“Competition can be good for business Pogg.” His financial advisor, a former banker on Ferenginar, said from his desk in the corner.

“The Federation doesn’t compete, they just fill people with wild ideas about equality and democracy. But you’re right, we should see what they want and what their intentions are…”
