Summary

Having most recently been the Chief Science Officer aboard the USS Dieppe, Tyler was now being placed in Command of the California class USS Blythe after her recent salvaging in the aftermath of the Blackout. Cdr Tyler has been assigned in an Acting capacity, the short term to help deal with and recover from the Vaadwaur invasion. His small crew were about be tested in ways few could imagine, and he would need to draw on everything he had learned over his many years as a science officer and during the Senior Bridge Officer training course he had recently passed at Starbase 86.

Appearance

Typical science nerd, thin, medium height, brown eyes, and the complete inability to grow facial hair of any respectable quality. Not overly attractive.

Personality

Tyler is a nervous and indecisive man generally. His starfleet service and training over the years had only provided a veneer of astute professionalism,. During his time aboard the Dieppe he had been in charge of the science department during a long survey mission near the boundary between the Alpha and Delta quadrants, and had grown close to most of his staff and was accustomed to basic leadership of a small team. With a crew of less then 350, and his department number roughly 45, he found himself extremely on edge after SF Command had assigned him to take command of the Blythe out of the blue with very little notice.

History

Born in Victoria BC Canada the son of Professors. His mother taught history and his father taught Astrophysics and Astronomy. He grew up as awkward child, not having more then a hand full of friends up until he went to high school. Even then his friends were mainly from the science clubs or badminton team, his only really ‘Cool’ friends, Jade Mulcair had been Parises Square middleweight champion 2 years running at the end of high school and he went on to be the cruiserweight champion 3 out of 4 years at the academy. He and Jade had remained close for the rest of Tylers career.

Tyler spent the entirely of his career in the science division, slowly rising up the ranks until 2402. He was by chance assigned to the USS Blythe as her temporary CO for a 2 month deployment in response to the events of the Blackout and the Vaadwaur Invasion. He was given a half strength crew and a busy itinerary…and then he went for a swom with his cetacean officers, and his life, as he knew it was over.
