They had called the diplomat in. The synthesized reports just kept bringing up more issues as they flew towards Duwalla. And Commander Aruin was on hand to deal with any diplomacy, and some would definitely be needed by the looks of things.

“So, Ferengi traditionalists eh?” The El Aurian Commander said as she came in.

“Yep. Very traditionalist too. I’ve pulled up all the info we got on this group. Apparently the group formed in early 2385, and by the end of the year about 900 of them bought D’Kora class and set off from Ferenginar. After that, theres 3 OSINT references to contants with them. 2 from the coreward edge of Romulans space, and another Galldinian freighter filed a report about being attacked by them several months before they arrived back in Federation space.” Danny said.

“So they took the long way around. What’d that trip take, a decade at maximum warp?” The diplomat said as she whistled in amazement.

“Looks like they made the trip in 12 years, good guess. I suspect they made a few profiteering pit stops along the way judging by the report my XO found.” Tyler chimed in.

“So, we got 2 pre warp cultures that have been contaminated by them in one star system?”

“Yes Commander. Though the case of the Formicans is debatable. Before the Ferengi arrived they were experimenting with a supercharged Fusion drive that may have allowed their ships to achieve warp 1.2. The info that’s been incepted from broadcasts around that time frame doesnt specify if the vessel actually achieved that speed.” Tyler replied.

“Well, as the Ferengi still aren’t a part of the Federation, and even as allies, it likely won’t factor in much since these are fundamentalists that left the Ferengi Alliance. Whats command want us to do?” Aruin crossed her legs.

“No major change to our mission so far. We are still to perform a second contact and regional survey to scout for a potentially site for a future Joint Research Base. They have ordered us to ascertain the political dynamic and scale of the cultural contamination that has taken place.”

“Sounds like fun. And we arrive tomorrow morning?”

“Yep.” Danny said as he placed the padd on the captains desk.

Over the next half hour they drafted communiques they would send to the Formicans Dergans, and the Ferengi.

    I like that first sentence "They had called the diplomat in." like "oh no, stuff got serious, gotta call in a *diplomat!* I like how everything is slowly coming together. The Blythe now knows about the nefarious Ferengi, plots are falling into place and slowly the story is shaping up. Poor Tyler and Danny, spending this trip on communiques. Nobody likes paperwork! :D
