Slightly breathless from hurrying back to the Lab after his encounter with the Captain, Damien made directly for the attached office. Taking a seat behind the desk, he inhaled deeply and slowly exhaled. He couldn’t help but smile as he did so. Today was certainly going in his favour.

“Computer, new log entry.” Damien spoke aloud. “Science Officers Log, Damien Andrews recording. It’s been several days since we departed Starbase 93 for the Proteus system. Our assignment equal parts straight forward and direct and equal parts uncertainty. With the dissolution of the Romulan Star Empire, the situation in the former empire has many unknowns.”

Taking a breath to restructure his thoughts, Damien continued.

“The crew have been nothing but welcoming and almost family-like. They know when to be all business and when to relax and have a bit of a joke with eachother. I do see the beginnings of a good friendship with Doctor Yates, who I have graciously allowed access to the secondary lab on board for her to devote to researching the outbreak we are trying to quell.”

“I haven’t worked alongside Emma or T’Keterk much since arriving on board but if they are anything like the rest of the crew I don’t anticipate any problems or personality clashes with either of them and I look forward to working more closely with them both as our mission progresses.”

“The Captain, however, I find both fascinating and intimidating not entirely unrelated to a lifetime of memories and experiences he obtained when he joined with the Suin symbiote, but also the respect he commands and receives from his fellow crew. They trust eachother to do their jobs and there is no fear or hesitation when offering their opinions and thoughts. I do certainly want to get to know him better, I mean for goodness sake I almost fainted when he clapped me on the shoulder on his way out of the lounge.”

Damien had never fallen so hard and so fast for someone but it was almost a trait of his family. Trust your heart in these matters and it will never lead you astray. Taking a brief look at the chronometer he quickly spoke up. “Computer, end log.”

There was still much to be done before they arrived.
