As Chief Petty Officer Traan deboarded the transport and walked through the airlock, stepping into the large corridor of his new duty station. SBB was certainly the largest Space station, and also the largest structure he had ever stepped foot on. At 700 decks tall, his new home eclipsed even the Luna Fleet Yards which was his last duty station. With all the recent turmoil around and within the Federation over the past few years, Starfleet was in the position where more frequent rotations of enlisted personnel into the ‘fleet’ was occurring, and Traan as a nearly 50 year old Chief Petty, was among those who had recently received transfer orders.

Back at Luna Fleet Yards over the past 2.5 years, he had been a Senior Testing Chief for all weapons being installed on vessels built in the drydock he had been assigned. But when he read his transfer orders to SBB, his duty station was listed as an ‘Operations Specialist’. Traan was no stranger to the notion that he was always  subject to the ‘the needs of the service’, he just hoped his rank as a Chief Petty Officer would atleast earn him some decent berthing. He had not shared quarters with more then 1 other chief in over 10 years. He shuddered at the sounds, senses(through his antennae) and smells that he had to endure those many years ago when he was lowly Petty Officer and before that, a crewman.

Having joined Starfleet over a quarter century before, he had been around the block and knew that he had always done his duty  and always recieved above satisfactory ratings on his crew evals. Traan had been working on testing and some new upgraded Mark XIV phaser arrays in his previous assignment, and simply assumed he would be working to install, repair or maintain them or some other offensive or defensive tactical systems since his Starfleet occupational specialty was as a Tactical Systems Technician.

He would find out more details midday the next day when he was scheduled to report for duty. Until then he had decided to head to the Security Office and check-in to his new quarters. He had studied the basic layout of the station, so he had a rough idea and started to make his way to the turbos in the transport core, the large and long section that ran through the middle of the station.

As he approached the turbo he noted out of the corner of his eye a redshirted Lt do a double take and start to move towards him.

LT DunoonNPC: T. Is that you? *Traan turned towards face him, and Dunoon immediately recognized the tall Andorian.* It is you, how have you been Chief.

Traan: *Shakes the mans hands and nods to the person Dunoon had been walking with* Steve? I’ve been well, all things considered. How long has it been, the last time I saw you we were on the Farragut together? Has to be atleast 6 years ago. What does starfleet have you doing here on Starbase Bravo sir? Nothing too important I hope.

Dunoon: *Noting the hint of a smile on the corner of Traans lip, recalling the Chief ascerbic and starcastic nature.* Nah nothing to wild. I’m a flight deck operations Officer here. What brings you out this way, passing through or have you been assigned here?

Traan: Assignment actually, i’m one of the new…*wave the a data padd to the side* Operations Specialists here. I report for duty tomorrow.

Dunoon: Well I’m sure they’ll put your skills to good use out here Chief. Still specializing in the big guns? *Referring to when they worked together on the Farragut and Dunoon had been a young Ensign and Traan had been a grizzled Petty officer who was in charge of the phaser arrays. Dunoon had noticed during their time serving together, that Traan could sense when a phaser coil was about to burnout moments before it happened due to an inaudible vibration that Traan as an Andorian could sense through his antennae.*

Traan: Of course, the bigger the better. I’m pretty handy around Shield geni’s, forcefield emitters and torpedos launchers too. *Grin. He glanced again at the person Dunoon had been walking with, and offered a handshake to them.* It’s a pleasure to meet you.
