The housing in the Starlight tier were located above the Promenade. They had two layers constructed so that people could walk pass the paths and still look down to the crowded Promenade and look up to see the stars and ships passing Hecate Station. It was an ideal location for both civilians and starfleet officers to settle down. It was not so much an exclusive area, but there were requirements to be able to house yourself there. One be long-term resident of five years or longer. Two have or have the intention to start a family, these houses were meant for families and not for just individuals. Three Starfleet officers holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander or higher and holding a Chief or above position can apply for this type of housing.

And those criteria also applied to Sazra and Silina. While being recognized as a couple and the ambition to have children. There were choices that could have been taken, but both of them were settled on it already, the Tube Rats had a difficult life and deserve a chance for a better. It would be a challenge for sure, homeless children that were acting on pure survival and not trusting anyone then themselves. But their choice was going to make it difficult for both of them.

Thalita and Alexia Marath are Bajoran children that fled from a border colony. Starfleet was there, but crime was, like on Hecate Station before, the one in control. It cost the lives of their parents, and it created a hatred towards Starfleet. The children had fled to Hecate Station, to escape the bad conditions, only to land in an even worse location, the Underspires, or known to Starfleet as the lower decks.

So anything related to Starfleet would be excluded in their house, officers were not allowed to address the two captains at their rank or their position. Was it fools proof, not likely. But both Silina and Sazra did their best to make the life better without any traumatic experience for the children to be enhanced. Was lying to them making it any better? No, but would the two children accept them if they knew they were Starfleet? The answer is also no, so a lie for the sake of provide a better home, was agreed on.

Sazra had her scientific background and was here on Hecate Station to help Starfleet on investigating the Grim Wall, which is a believable backstory seeing that the Grim Wall is a rich location for scientist. Silina is a doctor that helps out the USS Gemini on various missions as a civilian doctor, she specialized in trauma cases, which makes her more valuable in the eyes of Starfleet. Two solid background stories, a house that is clear of any Starfleet related stuff and officers that were not allowed to address them publically for what they were. Nothing could go wrong with this parenting approach? Right?

Taking a deep breath as Silina rubs Sazra arms from behind “Calm down the kids will notice that you are nervous” Even thought Silina felt like a nerve wreck herself. Facing the Blood Dilithium, Dying in the Underspace or facing the Dominion. Nothing could be more hammering her nerves then actually becoming parents.

Sazra nods, her hands were sweaty as she rubs it off her pants “Their rooms are sorted, I have removed any Starfleet reference, I spoke to K’Nala about…”

“They know, everyone knows the situation and the chiefs will intervene if they even try mentioning it. They know, no worries about this” Silina smiled at Sazra and kissed her on the cheek “We will be fine, just need to figure out how…this works”.

Sazra smiled looking at Silina “Together” she added to Silina sentence as she saw her smile. Then their moment was broken, the chime went off as they both looked at the door “They are here….is everything in check? Are we really ready for this? We might need to check again” Sazra asked as panic was getting to her.

But the hands of Silina calmed her down, “Calm down, we are fine. Come in” She announced and saw the door open as a civilian walked in holding a PADD. The man smiled at the two, “Welcome” Silina said with a soft smile.

“Thank you, I am Darian Baxter of the refugee relocation program. We have taken care of the placement program for the Dug Rats.” He steps aside as both Thalitha and Alexia stood there, Thalitha holding an arm over the shoulder of Alexia. Caution was noticeable in her eyes as Alexia was hugging her bigger sister. “These are Thalitha and Alexia Marath. They have agreed to live with you and you two becoming their guardian”.

Sazra squeezes Silina hand and looked at the two shy, afraid two girls “Hmm I am Sazra Kobahl, this is my partner Silina Ruslanovna. We welcome you gladly to our home” She didn’t know how to introduce herself more proper as her mind was racing on this moment.

Nodding to Sazra introduction, “Yes, we gladly take you in our home and provide shelter, food, and love. I know this is a difficult transition for both of you, so we won’t take any pressure to you guys. Our home is now your home” Silina smiled at both of them.

Thalitha looked at her sister who was clinging on her, a new beginning, a place to call home. Well, these two ladies didn’t look too bad. Taking a deep breath she nods slowly looking at Sazra and Silina “Thank you for taking us in, we appreciate it and hope we can make this our home. It will take some time to get used to it, but I hope for both our sakes that it will not take to long”.

Smiling at those words, Darian nodded and hands over the PADD to Sazra “These are the papers to make you official guardians. Sign it and ….well enjoy your moments as a new family”.

Both Silina and Sazra look at each other and nodded as they sign the PADD and give it back to Darian. Both newly appointed parents step back to let the children enter “Thank you for everything, please continue your hard work and hopefully more will find a loving and warm house.” Silina spoke to Darian.

Darian took the PADD and nodded “We will do our best, good luck girls and enjoy your stay with these fine people” Darian walked away as the two girls entered carefully their new house.
