=A= Captain’s Log: It has been an incredible 10 hours to say the least. The crew of the USS Paso Robles has been working hard to get the ship up and ready. Take another crew, I had my concerns at first when I noticed so many young lieutenants and ensigns being assigned to my command.

I am happy to say that all of them have it succeeded in my expectations. I know the Paso Robles is not the premiere ship of the fleet, but I’m grateful to the crew that I have and I’m grateful for the level of dedication and commitment they have shown me over these past 10 hours.

It’s starting to get late, but I decided to stay out for a little bit longer. My wife has agreed to come aboard as our chef, right now she’s getting our children ready to move. I have a rain for them to stay aboard Caireann Station. Will be assigned to the area to further assist Fleet operations.

I have started to review the ship’s profile history, back in the ’80s, the shift was repurposed for logistical support and I’m happy to see you then in 2402 we’re going to continue logistical support for the fleet. Like my crew, I’m going to take my saving here very seriously. I’ve been advised that in the future I could apply for a command upgrade, but at the moment I don’t have any intention of doing that. Right now getting the Paso Robles up and running, it’s been my top priority and now that I have that done I’m eager to start her mission.

Computer and log.=A=

After completing his Captain’s Log, Ren in his chair facing the death monitor screen. He had a tactical display of the USS Paso Robles on his main terminal. And next to it he had a list of all the senior staff. It was reading their files trying to get himself brought up to speed checking out there accommodations and their last duty assignments. For four of them, their last assignment was the academy.

If the past 10 hours had proven anything to him, that those four young officers were ready to lead a department of their own.

Ren looked around the room, knowing that he still needed to decorate this place and make it his home. But a part of him still remembered that this ship wasn’t initially his. It belong to another captain from another time.

Captain Alberto Reyes served as her commanding officer from 2385 just shortly before the synth attack all the way through 2390 when him and his crew transferred after the Paso Robles who was decommissioned.

When he first arrived into the ready room he noticed an old note written in paper waiting for him on the desk it was a note from Captain Reyes indicating that if anybody ever assumed Command of this ship, to take good care of her, because the ship had took some good care of him and his crew.

Ren felt touched that Alberto felt such a strong connection to a ship. He had heard that most captains felt a strong touch to the vessels that they command. And even though he’d only been there 10 hours he felt like he was having a connection to this ship already. It was something you heard about but something he never truly grasped or understood until this moment.

Ren read the letter a couple of times, and then place it into the drawer. This symbolism indicated to him that he was going to honor Alberto’s request. He hooked someday, that he can meet Alberto and maybe give him a tour around. But that would have to wait for now there was work to be done, and with This ship’s legacy he should be able to get that work done in a timely manner.

The Paso Robles, would be serving in the fourth Fleet as a logistical support vessel, and the first mission was to Rendezvous with Caireann Station. Partially to drop off his family, and another part to actually start their mission.

Project Nightfall was a special mission assigned to him by a Starfleet command and the fourth Fleet. He would deliver supplies to the fleet vessels. Even though the ship wasn’t the fastest in the fleet, she would be able to utilize quantum slipstream technology and the slipstream technology available to them. Being in the Delta Quadrant meant that supplies would be limited if it wasn’t for the drops of vessels like the Paso Robles making supply runs.

A standard transport vessel would be ill prepared to handle the situation of the Delta quadrant, it was decided by Starfleet that other vessels older vessels of the fleet would be reassigned to logistical duties one of them being his ship. Even though the Federation had recently restarted its exploration program it still needed vessels like the Paso Robles to deliver supplies to the fleet exploration vessels and personnel when the situation called for it.

Ren stood up and look outside the window, his office had a view, and currently in the window was a view of Earth. They were in a high elliptical orbit. By morning he would give the command to leave the soul system and head out into deep space.

The scene starts to fade away

with Ren looking out the window.
