*Acting Captain’s Log*

The past couple of days have been incredibly busy! It’s strange to think that not long ago, I was on another ship light-years away, surrounded by close friends and coworkers. Now, as the newcomer on this ship, I find some comfort in knowing I’m not alone in this transition. Starfleet assigned me to a new position that I didn’t even apply for, but here I am nonetheless.

 

The ship is quite beautiful—don’t get me wrong—but it’s nothing like my previous assignment. Still, I understand that any opportunity not taken could lead to regrets. A total of six of us were transferred at the request of Starfleet Command, and our captain is expected to join us within the next couple of weeks, bringing our number to seven. To be honest, I haven’t spent much time with the new bridge crew yet, but I plan to organize a specific time for us to bond. Currently, I am focused on completing duty reports and processing transfer requests.

 

The ship’s current crew complement is at 35%. It appears that the ship was undergoing a transfer cycle when I assumed acting command. I find it odd that all the senior staff had left and that any files related to their previous missions are classified, but right now is not the time to theorize or speculate.

 

We have lost all subspace communication with the relays in the area. After several hours of attempting to reestablish the connection, we finally received a fragmented message from Fourth Fleet Command. This message was sent using an experimental communication device related to Project Pathfinder. It indicated that there is an enemy presence lurking in the blackout zones and that we should do our best to support the efforts of the rebellion.

 

In just a couple of days, this command has already become a treasure trove of experiences.

    Nice to see another California class story. I love how your character is just rolling through the motions, understanding that they may not have been asked to be there but they're doing the best they can. I can't wait to read more of your guys' stories.
