Captain's Log, Stardate 2401.9

It's been nearly two days since we last had contact with Starfleet. Whatever happened that brought us her couldn't have been an isolated incident. Despite that the crew have shown a snse of determination and commitment during this time away. Many of them are exited with the fact we might be going on an impromptu exploration mission. Somehting our science chief is most excited about and has brought up countless risions to proceed. The engineering department has made fantastic progrees on repairing the ship since we left the Underspace corridor.

 

After some work from the science deparment we have determined that we are once again in the Delta quadrant. A fact much of the crew is not excited about. We are once again in Borg territory. However the region of the quadrant we are in has never been charted before. Given us nice mission to undertake while we are away. Moving on the Paramount has been functioning exceptionally well we have even made first contact with a corporeal warp capable species known as the Athreans.

 

It's strange the Ahtreans would finction with the other member worlds of the Federation wonderfully. They have the logical approach of a Vulcan, the medical expertise of a Denobulan and the detwemination of a Human. They would make excellent memebers of the Federation but I fear they still see us as hostiles. Which makes sense since they live in the Delta Quadrant. They have encounted the Borg, the Hirogen and even the Vidiians but they are still optimistic about their future and have not turned to a life of fear like so many in this quadrant. They are astoundinly more advanced than even the Klingons and are nearly equal to the Federation despite only being warp capable for two years and having a fleet nearing the hundreds.

 

Recently however I have noticed a shift in the populac. When we first arrived that had been noting but friendly and open but slowiy they are becoming more and more closed off. Lieutenant Reno thinks we arrived during a period of political unrest and that they are on the verge of civil war.

 

The planet's government which they call the Sovmon are split in half on whether they wish to continue to have talks with the Federation. The two factions are complete opposites one wants to transition into an authoritatian autocracy while the other wants to create a democratic republic. On top of all that, members of the crew have gone missing without a trace.

 

Whatever is happening we must figure it out. And fast.
