Captain Reacher and his senior staff deploy a risky plan: they leak false intelligence through Snow, hoping to bait the Romulan fleet into revealing its hand. The gamble works too well. A sudden Romulan coup erupts, led by military hardliners using Snow's intelligence as a pretext to seize power from the Praetor. The streets of the Romulan capital descend into chaos, and Federation citizens at the Embassy are declared "hostile assets." The Healdsburg initiates emergency extraction protocols, but they’re not fast enough. Half the Federation Embassy personnel are captured, including the Deputy Ambassador. To make matters worse, Snow escapes custody during the chaos, slipping into the shadows of Romulan space. Intelligence suggests he’s orchestrating this coup as a Section 31 operation gone rogue—using Federation tools to ignite a new power dynamic in the region. The crew must now choose: Launch a daring rescue mission deep in hostile territory. Or attempt diplomacy with the new, unstable Romulan leadership, gambling that they can still salvage peace.
