Task Force 72 Report #10

Greetings, everyone. In the most recent quarter since the last Task Force 72 report, there have been a lot of changes for the unit. Notably, Captain Trevenan Williams, aka James, has elected to return to being simply a member to focus more on his own writing, leaving the Task Force 72 Commanding Officer seat vacant. Shortly before that, Commander Zarroc Thakrass, aka Mike, accepted the leadership of Task Force 93. This has led me to step into the TF72CO role for the fourth time in the last few years—making this my tenth TF72 report. For some additional trivia: adding up all of my time in the role makes me the second longest serving TFCO here. As I have mentioned in past reports, Task Force 72 was my first home in Bravo Fleet many, many years ago, so it’s always nice to be back.

As should be obvious from the small size of our staff, a top priority for my tenure in this role is identifying individuals who have the temperament and interest to become staff members. Recent improvements to the BFMS are already substantially reducing the amount of “paperwork” that’s involved in running a unit. While many nominations are still hand-written and all promotion tasks still go through a few sets of human eyes, we can now focus more on mentorship and engagement. If you’re someone with a very firm grasp on Bravo Fleet’s policies, culture, and activities, you might consider applying to join Lieutenant Commander Aloran as one of our TGCOs.

Writing Updates

Since our last report, members of Task Force 72 have contributed many solo and joint-written posts across the Shore Leave campaign and beyond. Here is a taste of some of that writing:

  • During Shore Leave, four Task Force 72 members gathered together to participate in “The Beacon.” During this mission, the captains of the Speedwell, Carlsbad, Fresno, and Sacramento were brought together for a survival exercise on the surface of Minos Korva.
  • USS Carlsbad: The USS Carlsbad managed to survive the attempted Vaadwaur invasion of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, and dealt with the aftermath and cleanup.
  • USS Valejo: The Vallejo’s directive was to visit Federation frontier outposts along neutral space near the Cardassian border and ensure that they were attended to following the Vaadwaur incursion.
  • USS Farragut: The Farragut participated in a joint mission with the Blythe and Culver City to investigate incursions along the Federations borders with the Sheliak and Tholians.
  • USS Sacramento: The Sacramento’s crew adapted to life with their new commanding officer, as the ship prepared for redeployment.
  • USS Astute: The Astute was tasked with assisting the neutral colonists of Encedis-5  with the restoration of thier weather control satellite network that was intentionally sabotaged by the departing Vaadwaur forces.

Conclusion

Though we’ve had some great contributions from individual members this quarter, we’re now in a rebuilding phase for Task Force 72. As has been teased on Discord, look out for the Wargames Event, coming up in mid-September! That will be an amazing opportunity to buff your own personal activity, which then in turn makes Task Force 72 a more active and engaging place. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together!
