Task Force 47 – Report #4

June 2, 2025

But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow; even darkness must pass.

What a journey it’s been! As we continue to pick up the pieces following the galaxy-changing Vaadwuar invasion, Task Force 47 stands ready to return to the forefront of Starfleet’s efforts to find a new path through the darkness. It’s been an amazing few months since our last report, and I am very proud of all our members for their unending energy and commitment to our adventure as part of the Blackout event and then our annual fleet action Nightfall.

Our journey through this dark time has been lit by the constant good nature, humour and camaraderie of our members. Each has taken up the gauntlet, not only with their own contributions but also by championing the contributions of their colleagues across the fleet. Though I am sure they will be pleased for a reprieve from my constant reminders about competitions and activities (at least until our next campaign), each and every one has shown themselves to be heroes of the fleet.

I also want to take the moment (if you will indulge me) to give special thanks to our updated staff roster. Our new and eminently capable XO, Aelin Maori (aka Harper), who has stepped up since our last report and the ever energetic Charlotte MacColgan (aka Ceres), who has taken on the role of Task Group Commander for Task Group 13. It has been a pleasure to work and play with you both for these past few months, and I look forward to our next chapter.

I am reminded once again how exceptionally proud I am to call the members of Task Force 47 my allies, my fellow creators and my friends. I invite you to join me in acknowledging their heroics.

Fiction Updates

  • Atlantis Exploratory Squadron
    • The Atlantis Exploratory Squadron finds itself in an unenviable position above Betazed when the peaceful world is once again in the crosshairs of a merciless enemy. When chance offers them an opportunity to go on the offensive, Atlantis leads the veteran squadron forward into the maw of the enemy in the hopes they can break a vicious cycle. Every phaser blast counts as they enter the fray, and every moment could hold the key to the Federation’s survival.
  • Britannia Wayfinding Division
    • USS Britannia: Stuck in orbit over Risa, the crew of Britannia are desperate for any break in the blackout walls. Unfortunately, fate has an unwelcome gift in store, and when the Underspace opens, it reveals that the danger had been right under their noses. In a battle that risks taking everything from them, their allies and the people of Risa, Britannia must hold the line or else let paradise burn.
    • USS Daedalus: After weeks of bunny hopping their way back towards the Klingon border following their explosive failure to detain the fugitive Commander Bib, Daedalus’ luck seems to be changing when they discover an underspace portal. Unfortunately, it will only lead them to death and destruction at the battle of K-74. The Vaadwaur will test the small ship, and no one will escape unscathed.
  • Columbia Division
    • Just as USS Columbia thinks they have managed to reach the safety of the Federation, that promise is shattered by the emergence of the Vaadwuar. Above the icy surface of Andoria, the crew will fight for not only their lives but the lives of millions of their fellow citizens. As the horror of the invasion becomes clear, and with a new and untested Captain leading the make-shift division alongside USS Melbourne and USS Santa Fe, a choice must be made that will forever change the surface of the Federation’s very heart.
  • USS Century & USS Pulsar: Rallying to the defense of Vulcan, Century and Pulsar are sucked into a desperate battle against the Vaadwaur to defend 40 Eridani A Fleet Yards. With the odds stacked high against them, the explorer and the corvette must lead the way in turning the tide and ending the threat to Vulcan… but is this a fight they can win? And what will they have to pay in blood?
  • USS Oakland: Oakland and her crew are the unlikely final line of defence for Narendra III, a world already stooped with a history of failed last stands. Locked in a losing battle with unknown foes and outnumbered three to one, even Starfleet grit and tenacity may not be enough to see the battle through to its end…
  • USS Powhatan: After a sudden explosion rocks the ship, Captain Delaney and crew are forced to make an unexpected diversion towards Cardassian Space when it becomes clear they are in distress. The nearest safe haven? The mysterious and ominous Xepok Nor.
  • USS Sausalito: The crew of the USS Sausalito has arrived in 47 space and assisted the USS Bell Rock in returning to the TF Starbase after the Vaadwaur attack. The crew is currently undergoing a joint rescue attempt with the USS Chawla and hopes to return to Task Force space soon.
  • USS Vallejo: Vallejo has gone looking for a missing research team on Nerathis IV, only to find the Vaadwaur and… something else waiting for them. There’s something underneath the surface, something now unleashed and looking for prey- and Vallejo is the last line of opposition. Confronted with this psionic entity, it’s up to the plucky utility cruiser to seal it back away, safe and sound- and survive the attempt.

Conclusion

These last few months have been a whirlwind of activity, adventure and addictive storytelling. As we take our journey towards the next horizon, I continue to count it a blessing to be asked to lead this group of exceptionally excellent people. Doubly so, that I have the opportunity to do so alongside the exceedingly capable and enthusiastic contributions of Harper and Ceres.

I look forward to seeing what lies beyond the next star, and most importantly, I look forward to seeing you out there with us.

Till then, may we all continue to carry the light.
