Security Office Report #2 – Staffing Changes & Gaming Submission Practices

December 19, 2024

Hello Gamers,

Following the exciting release from our Engineering Office, I wanted to send out a Security Office update and reminder about gaming submission practices. I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our fantastic engineering team for their efforts in upgrading the gaming submission platform (frontend and backend) in Bravo Fleet. You’re a fabulous bunch – thank you!

Staffing Changes

I am excited to announce that Sazra Kobahl (RaWolfe) will be taking on the position of Deputy Security Officer within the Security Office, effective Dec 19, 2024. RaWolfe has been with the Security Office as Staff Assistant: Gaming since Sept 2, 2024. He will continue to maintain a strong presence in the gaming community, and you will see him host more gaming events in the near future! Stay tuned.

Gaming Communications

It is worth mentioning that our primary means of communicating gaming events is utilizing the Events tab on the Discord platform. This has been the practice for some time and will continue to be moving forward. Any endorsed gaming events will be listed there for your viewing pleasure. I encourage you to identify if you are interested in attending, as this helps the event host determine attendance numbers. We will also communicate reminders of events in the gaming channel on Discord.

Gaming Submission Practices

With the recent updates to the gaming submission platform in BFMS, the Security Office wanted to take an opportunity to remind members of submission etiquette.

You will notice in the new gaming submission form that you are responsible for identifying what multipliers you are claiming in the submission form (e.g. 4+ members). Therefore, if those multipliers change within a gaming session, a separate gaming submission must be entered to reflect those separate parameters.

Please review these couple of case examples for the context of what is being asked by policy:

Annex engages in 5 games of Brawlhalla with 2 other Bravo Fleet members. A 4th member enters the gaming voice channel and joins in for an additional 5 games with the group.

  • Annex must ensure that he submits two separate gaming submissions as the member multiplier for that gaming policy has changed during the session.
  • Annex would submit for the 5 rounds with 3 members and then provide a second submission with an additional 5 rounds with 4 members in total.

Mamof hosts a Star Trek Online TFO gaming event. For the first half of the event, there are 3 other Bravo Fleet members participating, and they have completed 4 normal-level TFOs. At the halfway mark 2 additional members join in, and the group decides to run advance level TFOs. They complete another 3 advanced TFOs.

  • Mamof must ensure that he submits two separate gaming submissions because both the member and content multipliers changed during the gaming session.
  • In total, Mamof would submit the first 4 normal level TFOs with 4 members participating. The second submission would have 3 advanced levels TFOs with 6 members participating.

While these submission practices have existed in policy for quite some time, the Security Office has not regularly enforced them. Please note moving forward that this submission practice will be required for you to receive your gaming ribbons. Security Office staff will deny submissions that do not adhere to this policy ask (when applicable) and will coach members individually through revision if necessary.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding submission practices, don’t hesitate to get in touch with a member of the Security Office

Thank you, and happy gaming!
