Description

One of your characters has been selected for a very short notice mission with particular gear requirements as it’s going to involve time away from the ship. While you manage to get everything together, or at least you think you do, for some reason when you get to the mission site you find your gear has been replaced with an odd assortment of items. Since you’re unable to get the correct gear in time, you’ll have to make do with what you have.

For this event you’re tasked with writing a story using only the equipment listed below. The type of mission is up to you, but the list of equipment remains the same. How do you get through the mission?

List of Items:

  • A Tricorder that scans between 3 and 6 meters to the left at all times
  • An official Mugatoland plush Mugato
  • A phaser with 3% power that’s stuck at setting 1.75
  • 2 days supply of your least favorite field rations
  • A canteen of Bolian tonic water
  • 3 dilithium shards (inert)
  • A PADD full of Klingon opera

Criteria

  • All submissions should be sent through BFMS and a link to the story should be included as the entry. NOTE: Feel free to mark your story as non-canon if you so desire
  • Submissions should be between 500 and 2000 words.
  • Submissions will be graded based on grammar, story, and how well the listed items are used. You do not HAVE to use all items, but keep in mind the criteria.
  • Gear NOT on this list should not be used in this story. If you choose to involve multiple characters, this is a communal gear list.
