Description

Remember Captain’s Holiday (TNG, Season 3, Episode 19)? 

Picard went to Risa for rest – and got none of it.  Now it’s your turn to make sense (or nonsense) of it all… in verse.

Write a poem inspired by the events of “Captain’s Holiday.”
You may focus on one scene, tell the episode’s story from a new point of view, or reimagine it with humor, irony, romance, or tragedy.

Please use the Shakespearean sonnet format:

CDCD
EFEF
GG

While there is no limit on the number of syllables, you should end up with 14 lines in total – no more no less.

  • Adherence to the prompt.
  • Use of rhyme scheme and flow of language.
  • Creativity and tone (humor, drama, or parody all welcome)

Upon the shores where Risan breezes play,
A captain sought repose from star and strain.
But fate, as sly as Vash's hidden way,
Ensured his rest would never come again.

The Horgon stood, a beacon of delight-
Though Picard knew not what he'd set in place.
In khakis, thrust into a Tox Uthat fight,
He chased through time and danger’s brief embrace.

Two Vorgons came with futures etched in stone,
While Ferengi schemes unfolded with a sneer.
Yet every theft, each ancient crystal blown,
Made passion’s pull toward Vash more sharp and clear.

No rest was had, no silence, nor escape-
But even logic bends for curves and cape.
