Summary

As denizens of an Independent colony along the Federation/Romulan border G’Bat’ea and his parents were subjected not only first hand to the harrowing faces of the refugees fleeing the impending crisis but were moved enough that his parents began working for Federation based charity organisations. Starfleet assistance was commonplace in these and the young Nausicaan boy would often hear stories of their work and want to see the other places out there. After a brief period of disillusionment with Starfleet and the Federation at large withdrawing support from the effort G’Bat’ea now finds himself drawn back to the organisation as it seems to open it’s mind and borders once more to the wider possibilities in the Galaxy.
