History

Rhys was born in 2371, on a small island of Anglesey just off the coast of Wales. Rhys was a bright but quiet boy, who delighted in growing up amongst the rivers and valleys of his native land. He had a fascination for myths, legends, and history and was fond of reading books on those subjects. He also had a great love for swimming and practically anything involving the water.
His mother Anna was Chief Science Officer on the USS Pioneer, and his father Jackson was a Doctor. Rhys adored his mother, but his relationship with his father was uncomfortable as even as a child Rhys and his father struggled to get along. At school, he did very well academically and while he was not the most sociable person, he took a great interest in observing and helping others. He also did well at sports especially at swimming.

Rhys’s life dramatically changed when his mother died during the Dominion War in 2375. When he was old enough, Rhys applied to Starfleet Academy in hopes of one day becoming a Science Officer like his mother. He learned his lessons well, applying them in a practical situation was a different manner. He was never satisfied with his work or the work of those around him. He would continually go over work again and again trying to get it perfect. Other cadets dreaded working with him. His quiet, reserved nature was often confused with arrogance and aloofness. He excellent in his science training. He majored in biochemistry with a minor in xenolinguistics. He became a certified medic while at the Academy. He graduated salutatorian of his class with certifications in biology, biochemistry, communications, diplomacy, general science, and paramedicine.

Following his graduation, Rhys was promoted to Ensign and quickly assigned to the USS Geneva as a Junior Science Officer. He quickly promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and Assistant Chief Science Officer within six months. Rhys then served as Assistant Chief Science Officer for three years until being promoted to full Lieutenant. In early 2399, he applied for a position as Chief Science Officer on Roosevelt Station near the Breen border. Being on the frontier of Federation space, Rhys hoped to explore the final frontier.
