Ralessa joined the Andorian Home Guard at the age of 17, wishing to serve her people, but not necessarily to join Starfleet, as she has no overwhelming desire to do much other than protect her people, and start a family. She served mostly in “close-in” postings. The Home Guard being the equivalent of a police force, she found her work/life balance to be reasonably easy to maintain, and was able to start a family during her posting.

2398-2401

In 2398, at the behest of her superiors, she was asked to consider a posting on a Starfleet vessel that would be going on an extended deep-space assignment. The Admiral in command of the vessel had sent out a call to all of the Federation’s non-human races for various senior staff positions, as she’d wanted her crew to be as much a melting pot as possible, representing one of the core ideals of the Federation. Ralessa met with Admiral Tondro, and asking the woman an hour’s worth of detailed questions, accepted the position. She has served with distinction since the ship was commissioned and she assigned.
