Summary

Ensign K’Raal, daughter of Morak, serves as a Junior Engineering Officer aboard the USS Stardust under the command of Captain Harper N. Brooks. A proud Klingon from Ty’Gokor, K’Raal brings raw determination and hands-on skill to the Sausalito’s engineering team. Though young and occasionally impulsive, her ingenuity and fearlessness under pressure have already earned her the respect of her peers.

Among her early service highlights are her rapid response during a plasma relay overload in the ship’s secondary EPS grid and her critical role in stabilizing the warp core during a Vaadwaur engagement. Fiercely loyal to her crewmates and unafraid of risk, K’Raal continues to prove that honor can be found not only in battle, but in the hum of a well-running warp engine.

Appearance

K’Raal stands at 1.86 meters, her posture always rigid and proud. Her forehead ridges are sharp and prominent, a mark of her lineage, and a faint scar runs down the left side of her face — the result of a plasma conduit accident during training. Her dark hair is usually tied back into a tight braid to keep it clear of her work. Her uniform often carries the faint scent of burnt circuitry, and she wears it like armor — sleeves rolled, collar slightly loosened, ready to dive into a Jeffries tube at a moment’s notice.

Personality

K’Raal is a bundle of drive and defiance, still learning the subtleties of serving in Starfleet rather than the Klingon Defense Force. She has a fiery temper when her competence is questioned and a deep need to prove herself among Starfleet’s best engineers. Despite her youth, she’s courageous to a fault — often volunteering for dangerous repair work in hostile conditions.

She speaks bluntly and without pretense, though her honesty is rarely cruel. Her loyalty to her shipmates runs deep, and she holds the belief that “a true engineer bleeds with her ship.” She can be competitive, especially with human and Vulcan engineers, and takes pride when her unconventional Klingon methods yield results.

History

Born to the House of Morak, a minor Klingon family with little political power but a reputation for shipwrights and mechanics, K’Raal grew up surrounded by the hum of warp cores and the clang of forges. Her father commanded a small freighter within the Empire’s outer colonies, and from a young age, K’Raal was expected to learn its systems inside and out.

While other Klingon children learned to wield bat’leths, she learned to weld hull plating and reprogram plasma injectors. Her fascination with engineering led her to apply for the Klingon Defense Force Academy — but her views on cooperation and innovation clashed with the Empire’s more traditional officers. Recognizing her potential, a visiting Starfleet exchange officer recommended she apply to Starfleet Academy through the Federation–Klingon Officer Exchange Program.

At the Academy, K’Raal faced skepticism from her peers — both for her blunt manner and her Klingon pride — but she quickly proved herself capable, excelling in warp propulsion theory, starship maintenance, and damage control.

Newly assigned to the USS Stardust, she serves as a Junior Engineering Officer under Lieutenant Commander T’Penne, eager to learn, eager to challenge expectations, and determined to bring honor to both Starfleet and her House.
