Summary

Lieutenant Commander Logan “Brick” Calloway, Starfleet, is the Chief Engineer aboard the Steamrunner-class heavy frigate USS Tennessee (NCC-71836). A battle-tested engineer known for his grit, ingenuity, and dry humor, Calloway can keep the ship spaceworthy with a plasma torch and a prayer. He thrives under pressure, leading Valor’s lean engineering department with the mix of discipline, improvisation, and sheer willpower that keeps older ships in the fight.

Appearance

Calloway is 5′ 11” tall with broad shoulders and  a sturdy build forged by decades in the crawlspaces of starships. His sandy-brown hair is kept short, and his piercing blue eyes carry the steady intensity of a man who has stared down a reactor breach more than once across a colorful career.

Personality

Calloway is gruff but loyal, practical but fiercely inventive. He’s at home amid the hum of plasma conduits and the thrum of a warp core, and he treats his engine room crew like a small, tightly run family. Beneath his rugged demeanor lies a dry wit and a surprising empathy for his people. He doesn’t mince words, or waste them, but his actions consistently speak for themselves.

History

Graduating from Starfleet Academy in 2385 with a focus on Warp Propulsion Systems and Emergency Field Engineering, Calloway’s early assignments aboard the USS Redding and USS Agrippa earned him a reputation for a no-holes-barred approach to his duties.

He earned the nickname “Brick” early in his career aboard the USS Redding, when a maintenance mishap in contested space nearly cost the ship her warp drive. The Chief Engineer panicked and ordered the plasma injectors vented, an action that would have crippled the ship and stranded the crew in enemy territory.

Calloway physically blocked the Chief Engineer, locking the control manifold override with a custom access cypher. The two men came to blows in Main Engineering as the warp core surged toward a catostrphic breach. Calloway took a plasma wrench across the shoulder, tackled the lieutenant into a bulkhead, and manually rerouted power through the auxiliary conduits, stabilizing the core mere seconds before containment failure.

He was immediately placed under arrest for striking a superior officer and faced a General Court-Martial. The court martial tribunal, after hearing testimony from the Redding’s captain and executive officer, ruled that his “assault” had directly saved the ship and all hands.

When he returned to duty, the crew greeted him with a single word scrawled across a diagnostic console in injector grease: BRICK. The nickname stuck.

Now serving aboard Tennessee, Calloway’s steady leadership and battle-tempered pragmatism form the backbone of the ship’s engineering department.
