His time growing up on a relatively remote colony world, he learned self reliance at a young age, and was always filled with the desire to learn and grow as a person. At the academy he had developed a bit of a reputation as a showoff and a joker, but by the time of his presumed passing he had grown into a more well rounded person, and all of his peers from his flight deck on SBB respected him for his flight skills and good hearted nature.
History
Growing up on Kazanthi Prime, a colony world near Tholian space with a population of around 60000, Vaughns father was manager at the Dilithium refinery that was the primary reason the colony existed, and Vaughn lives in relative luxury during his younger years.
During the upheavels and dire events that had occurred in the 2380s, Vaughn father had retired and moved the family back to Hamilton, Earth, now a suburb of Toronto in 2389 when Vaughn was 11. He excellent at Mathematics and wrestling during his high school days. In 2394 Vaughn joined Starfleet Academy, graduating 4 years later.
His first duty station was Deep Space 7, was as a small Craft flight officer, eventually being certified on 3 different classes of small Craft(2 fighters, 1 bomber). He served there for an approximate 2 year duty cycle, and was transfered to the USS Hokkaido in 2399. He was assigned as an element leader for one of the fighter squadrons aboard.
Most recently, he was assigned to SB 86, as a flight leader for one of the fighter/interceptor squadrons. His final mission was during one of the battles through underspace against the Vaadwaur. His fighter was visually seen exploding by his wingman, and another pilot from his flight. His vessels destruction was also confirmed by a nearby starships sensors at the time. His body was not recovered due to the nature and speeds at which the battle had taken place, and on the casualty reports, he is listed as ‘Missing, Presumed Dead’. His wingman has posthumously reccomended him for a starfleet valor award for his actions during the chaotic, but ultimately victorious battle to drive the Vaadwaur back and repel the savage assault.²
