Summary

Nicholas “Nick” Noel Ryder (April 14, 2339) is a former Starfleet officer and current governor of Terra Alpha and is considered a “Founding Father” of the colony.  He attended Starfleet Academy with Rebecca Talon and a Betazed, Nancy Peterson, with whom he still shares a close bond.  He was captain of the USS Tigris during the Dominion War and immediately after. He later commanded the USS Nancy Wake as part of Starfleet Intelligence.  In 2388, he was summarily dismissed from Starfleet after an incident resulting in the Wake’s loss.  The court-martial is heavily redacted to uselessness, but a former Romulan senator, Tomarah, was involved somehow.

Like the Talons, Ryder already had a property on Terra Alpha when he settled there after leaving the fleet. He quickly got involved in politics, and with his brother Tony, they founded AlphaTech, a technology firm pushing the boundaries of technology. While not as prestigious as the Daystrom Institute, the firm was well-regarded by several figures within the Federation. AlphaTech holds several Starfleet contracts constructing probes, torpedoes, phaser array components, navigation and targeting systems, and Type 8 and 9 shuttlecraft.
