Savak

Savak is a former Starfleet Security Division officer (recently transferred to duty with Starfleet Intelligence) with an inescapable legacy, that she has tried hard to distance herself from – to a certain extent – determined to prove her worth as an officer on her own merits alone.

Of mixed Vulcan and Romulan heritage, Savak is daughter to the legendary Commodore Sarak – who is widely accepted to be one of the forerunners to and progenitors of the Hazardous Situation Response Team doctrine, during the Dominion War and whose exploits are the stuff of legend at Starfleet Academy, in circles where Starfleet’s Special Operations exploits are studied.

That Commodore Sarak is long retired from active duty (or so it is rumored), has done nothing to narrow the estrangement between mother and daughter – as Savak struggles with the fiery Romulan side of her nature (her late father was a Tal Shiar Agent) and seeks to carve out a career far from the long shadow cast by her mother’s reputation.

To date, she has roundly evaded all attempts to suborn her into Hazard Team training, preferring the realm of cunning and intellect more typified by her late Tal Shiar father.

A child of two worlds, Savak’s Vulcan side lends well to her work as a Security Officer, and she is both analytic and methodical in her approach to investigations. Conversely, her Romulan side gives her a natural intuit towards subterfuge and deceit – which she uses to great effect to profile the actions and motivations of potential perpetrators.

These contradictory qualities can sometimes also challenge her resolve and Savak struggles to contain her anger – channeling her rage into the pursuit of martial arts and she is adept in a number of forms of unarmed and armed combat from many different species.

Another challenge is the simple act of socialization – as these competing urges sometimes make it hard for her to integrate successfully into social settings. At turns she is as distant as a Vulcan or as scathing as a Romulan. Neither facet of her heritage makes her a natural fit, but once her friendship is gained – it is gained forever.
