Summary

Before she embarked upon a career in Starfleet, Deassomi Dai attended the University of Betazed – graduating with a degree in Practical Astrometrics.

As a mature cadet, Deassomi had little patience for her fellow students and inwardly chafed at having to wait for them to catch up and match her input. This irascible nature was little improved by the fact that her Telepathic ability allowed her a glimpse of exactly what her classmates thought of her.

A brilliant science generalist, Deassomi keeps a keen focus on Astrometrics and Stellar Cartography and nothing piques her interest more than a good stellar phenomenon.

Deassomi is separated from her wife, Erfani – who she shares custody of their young daughter Jaani with. Her daughter is the light of her life and being away from her causes Deassomi some depression – which she counters by throwing herself into her work.

Appearance

A Betazoid woman of middle – years, Deassomi Dai has the black iris’s that typify her race – set in a strong – boned face and she wears her hair shorn to a close stubble.

Personality

Deassomi Dai carries herself confidently and projects a no – nonsense demeanor.

A highly intelligent woman, Deassomi can lose focus when engaged in her work and her manner can be quite abrupt and dismissive. She does not make friends easily.

Like most of her kind, Deassomi is a Telepath with strong empathic tendencies. Rather than embracing this psionic – gift, she often finds that it is at odds with her scientific perspective, and this can contribute to her already abrasive manner.

Seemingly unflappable, even in the direst situations, Deassomi is nevertheless a calming presence on the bridge of the USS Valley Forge and also serves in the capacity of Second Officer – in addition to her role as Chief Science Officer.

Deassomi resigned her commission and left Starfleet whilst stranded in the Mirror Universe, discovering that the Terran Empire had near – totally eradicated her Homeworld and people – opting to remain whilst the Valley Forge returned to the Prime Universe, determined to repopulate the Betazoid race in the MU along with the only other survivor of her people.
