History

Early Life
Denea was born on Bajor in 2374, in the wake of the Cardassian Occupation. Her parents, survivors of the occupation, quickly mobilized in support of the growing revivalist movement. Enthusiastically, both her parents, set out restore the illustrious history of the Bajoran people by developing centers for knowledge, culture, faith, and scholasticism; holistic heritage centers by which Bajorans could re-discover their identity.

At an early age, she was educated in one of the Collaborative Curriculum Centers established by her parents. Her life, and that of her peers, was structured and routine. Each day revolved around the holistic development of body, mind, and soul. Philosophy, theology, appreciation of art, civics, letters, Bajoran Architecture and more permeated every waking hour of the school day. After hours, instruction took the form of entertainment as Denea and her friends were encouraged to dance, enact social etiquette, and exercise proficient use of the mother tongue. Denea was fascinated by it all. She was curious and insatiable in her desire to learn.

Pagh, the Bajoran word for revival truly defined Denea’s early years. It was the core of the revivalist movement, to have been resurrected and born anew. It served well the generations who endured the occupation, but now set a line of demarcation for those born after. With Federation influence and a growing rationalist philosophy, many questioned the role and importance of faith. For the first time, she found herself taking a side, both sides.

Unlike many of her peers, Denea found harmony in both Faith and Science as necessary tools to uncover knowledge and truth. She once argued, “Science and faith are two lenses through which we view the same universe. In seeking knowledge, we find truth, in faith, we find meaning. Together, they guide us on our journey through the stars.”

An erudite scholar, Denea scored exceptionally high in linguistics, archaeology, and astrophysics. She pursued post-secondary education on Bajor and later advanced degrees at the Federation Research Institute, specializing in Xenoarchaeology and Astrobiology. She spent several years in the field deciphering ancient alien languages and studying pre-warp civilizations.
