Summary

Aldren Ballard is a native of the former Cardassian Demilitarized Zone, being raised on a Federation Colony in this fiercely contested section of space. When his father was imprisoned by the Federation for his activities in the Marquis, Aldren’s mother relocated to her native Melbourne, Australia on Earth.

An irascible and sometimes difficult person, Aldren Ballard is nevertheless a brilliant young scientist and was a runner up for the prestigious Daystrom Institute Medal for Scientific Excellence during his time at the Academy. With a joint doctorate in the fields of Stellar Phenomena and Theoretical sciences – service aboard a Starfleet vessel is the only logical career path for Aldren.

Brilliant, difficult & insatiable in the pursuit of knowledge, neatly encapsulates & summarizes the new Chief Science Officer of the USS Savannah.

Aldren Ballard is of medium build with blonde hair and dresses (and carries himself) with a louche panache, both on and off duty.

 

Personality

Aldren Ballard can be a difficult man to appreciate and warm to at times.

A man of evident intellect, Aldren has an almost singular focus on science and can be abrupt and sometimes acerbic with those who do not immediately grasp his process. Typical of persons with Asperger’s Syndrome. Aldren can have a hard time relating to others socially, exhibits repetitive behavior patterns, and a narrow range of interests.

This has in turn led to a slow progression through the ranks, but this is something that does not concern Aldren.

Aldren prefers his own company, and his main outlet is wilderness hiking – he is a surprisingly accomplished outdoorsman and bushman.
